Joint Commission International Accreditation

The Joint Commission is an independent, non-profit organization. The Joint Commission International (JCI) is a U.S- based, accreditation body dedicated to improving healthcare quality and safety around the world for over 50 years. The JCI is a subsidiary of Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), which is also a non-profit organization. The JCAHO is the largest and most recognized healthcare organization in the United States today. Although there are many accredited organizations, JCAHO is known to be the most respected, and these same polices are carried over to the JCI.

JCI works directly with healthcare organizations to achieve their goals of providing quality clinical care and services in safe, efficient and well-managed facilities. Joint Commission is governed by a board that includes physicians, nurses, and consumers that understand the level of quality care that needs to be received at each and every accredited organization.

To earn and maintain accreditation, the healthcare provider must have a demanding on-site review by a working team of experienced Joint Commission professionals that closely review the following:
  • Access to health care
  • Health assessment and care processes
  • Education and Rights of Patients
  • Management of information and human resources
  • Safety of facility
  • Infection control
  • Collaborative integrated management
  • Facility management
  • Performance measurement

Harvard Medical International (HMI)

Harvard Medical International (HMI) may be better known as Partners Harvard Medical International (PHMI) in the spring of 2008. HMI partners with organizations that are committed to providing the best care possible, and is devoted to long-term commitments to pursue excellence in healthcare, medical education, and patient satisfaction. This includes treating any procedures as the U.S. would recommend.

Partnering with HMI means that the international facilitator will have access to all of the knowledge and experience that Harvard Medical has, is, and will be exposed to.

The goal of HMI is "to foster collaborations that bring innovations in medical education and healthcare delivery to the global community of medicine." HMI fulfills the need that many international hospitals aspire to have:  to increase Medical Tourism. HMI is not only working closely with the physicians, but also the nurses, in ongoing training and patient care. Collaborating with HMI also insures that the patient will receive the best state-of-the-art medical care. HMI provides a wide range of excellent infrastructure when meeting the challenges of organizational needs in healthcare.
